Tata Motor’s new one-ton pickup, popularly referred to as the Sprint, will be launched in India this month. The vehicle will be christened the Xenon and sport Tata’s 2.2 litre Dicor engine. Tata aptly named this project Sprint since the entire process from conception and design to development took only 18 months.

Tata's aging work horse the Sumo has been serving the price sensitive cab market since 1994 but is due to be replaced by Diwali 2007. The new MUV will be based on Tata's TL Sprint pick up truck which was revealed at the Bologna Motor Show in 2006.
The Sumo replacement has been caught testing under camouflage by many. Unlike the Sprint, it won't be a pickup though.
