Toyota has finally planned to launch the diesel variant of the Corolla Altis. Currently Toyota car is being tested on Indian roads. The production of the Diesel Corolla Altis may begin by the end of this month. Toyota may launch the new car by April end or so. The new Corolla Altis may be equipped with a 2.0 litre diesel engine.

Europe’s biggest carmaker, Volkswagen, has reported an 80 per cent fall in annual net profits to 960m euros. Operating profits also fell, down 71 per cent from a year earlier to 1.9bn euros, while revenues fell 8 per cent to 105bn euros.
Another German carmaker, BMW, also reported a sharp drop in profits for 2009, with net income down 36 per cent to 210m euros.

Automobile major, Ford India, plans to launch more global products in the Indian market, a top company official said.
“We are going to bring more global products into the Indian market. We will look at options for Indian customers’ needs out of our global stable,” Ford India’s Managing Director and President, Michael Boneham, told on Wednesday.

Tata Motors’ parent Tata Sons and Citigroup’s Mauritius investment arm, which mainly operates through the PN route, were the top buyers in the 5.34% stake sold by Daimler in Tata Motors.
Daimler in a media statement on Tuesday said that it is in an excellent position to capitalise on the growth potential of the Indian auto market.

Car Manufacturer Honda Siel Cars India on Monday launched a select edition of Honda’s small car, the Honda Jazz. The new car has been priced at Rs 7.21 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
